1970, after only 3 years of production the old Firebird is ditched in order to usher in the second generation - thought by many, myself included, to be the most interesting incarnation of the Firebird. Suddenly the 'bird got longer, heavier, lower and ever more powerful...

Aaah, '79! Great year for the Firebird (not that I am biased), getting its last face lift before the introduction of the 3rd generation. This was also the greatest production year, with 211,453 'birds being churned out...
