Getting around to unleashing the Trans Am on a few unsuspecting events now. The Guildford Cruise on on the first Sunday of every month is very good this time of year. And the Summer Nationals were superb - Great turnout and wonderful weather! Click here for some photos from some of the events I've visited.

The Guildford Cruise

Held on the first Sunday of every month. Informal meet in Burger King car park, Guildford. People seem to start turning about at about four-ish in the afternoon. Turnout generally depends on the weather and on the time of year.
I've been a couple of times, once in July, when it was packed and had trouble getting parked anywhere decent, and then once in February when it rained and unsurprisingly was rather less busy.
Always seems good for a laugh though, although only half a dozen or so firebirds were there the other day, many, many more turn up in the summer.

American Auto Club Spring Nationals 2002
20-22nd April, Billing Aquadrome, Northamptonshire. One of the busiest and best shows of the year. If you can't make all weekend, make sure you don't miss the Sunday!

Spring Vehicle Meet and Autojumble

The ninth one of these seems to be held at Wyke Down, Andover, Hants on the 24th April 2000. Apparantly recent years have seen over 500 American/Classic/Vintage cars/motorbikes assembling. £2 minimum donation if you're turning up to show your car. Dunno what it's like there because I've never been.
Contact Dave Palmer (01264 363295) evenings for more details.

JukeBox 2002

April 27th/28th - Effingham Park Hotel, Copthorne, Gatwick Airport - went to one of these a couple of years ago - pretty good I guess if JukeBoxes and old arcade games are your thing! Always a few yankees in the carpark too!

2002 Summer Nationals

All weekend, 14th - 16th June - Billing Aquadrome, Northampton, J15 M1. Biggest and best show of the year. 6,000 cars normally turn up on the Sunday apparantly. Check out the American Auto Club website for more info. See you there on the Sunday if you're going!

Americana International 2002

From the 04th July to the 7th July it's the American International 2002 event at the County Showground, Newark, Nottinghamshire. Usual mixture of classic and modern American cars, bikes, trucks, etc. 5 stages there too with Rock and Roll bands, Elvis impersonators and the like. Awards for best vehicles in class. Goodwood Festival of Speed

12th - 14th July Near Chichester, Sussex - Historic Hill Climbing event. Great turnout of cars, even a Firebird there last year + a few yankee drag cars. Can be difficult to see the action though, so if you are going to go, I highly recommend getting a grandstand seat! www.goodwood.co.uk

Damn Yankees Summer Slam 2

29th July North Weald Airfield, near Chipping Ongar, M11 J7

Goodwood Revival Meeting

September 6th-8th - In my humble opinion, superior day to the Festival of speed. Classic machines and veteran drivers such as Stirling Moss and John Surtees pounding round this awesome circuit. Well worth a visit. www.goodwood.co.uk
