I've now owned BUR 822S for nearly four years, having taken part in the first 2002, 2003 and the complete 2005 season with the Historic Sports Car Club's (HSCC) 70's RoadSports Championship.

This is a historic track racing series, a the name suggest for production sports and GT cars from the 70's. Cars must remain road legal, and only limited modifications to engine, brakes and suspension are allowed - creating a fun, fast competition, but limiting the expense for everyone involved.

The 2005 championship was held over ten different race events throughout the year, and I was lucky enough to win 3rd in class, in this year - behind 2 morgan V8s!.

Apart from the Trans Am, there are a multitude of other interesting machines blasting round. Racing is split into classes depending on engine size. Other competitors in Class 'A' - anything above 3,000cc - including several Morgan V8s, Porsche 928 and MGB V8's

Cars in the other, smaller classes include several Lotus', Porsches, Triumphs, Datsun 240z, Ferraris, Maseratis, Jensons, Jaguars...

Although I'm not driving my firebird this year, my mechanic Robin Gray is giving it a go in the series. More info at http://www.autopontiac.co.uk.
